Scotflix is a streaming service for Scottish film, series, shorts, documentaries and live events, operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], a company registered in Scotland (number [COMPANY NUMBER]) at [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. In these terms, "we", "us" and "Scotflix" mean that company, and "you" means the person using the service.

By creating an account, buying or renting a title, or otherwise using Scotflix, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Your account

You need an account to buy or rent titles. You must give an email address you control, and keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] straight away if you think someone else has access to it.

You must be at least 13 to hold an account. Some titles carry age ratings, and you must not watch a title rated above your age.

2. Buying and renting

Scotflix sells two things, and the difference matters:

• A purchase gives you access to a title for as long as Scotflix offers it. It is not a transfer of ownership and it is not a permanent guarantee: if we lose the rights to a title, it may leave the service.
• A rental gives you access for a limited period, and may also limit how many times you can watch or how long you have once you press play. The limits that apply are shown before you pay.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Payment is taken by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.

Access is licensed to you personally, for your own private viewing. You may not share your account, redistribute a title, or attempt to download, copy, record or circumvent the protection on anything we stream.

3. Your right to cancel

Because Scotflix delivers digital content immediately, the law treats it differently from a physical product.

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days to change your mind. When you buy or rent a title you ask us to give you access immediately, and you accept that you lose that 14 day right once access begins. We will tell you this at checkout, and you have to agree to it before you pay.

None of this affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If a title is faulty, will not play, or is not as described, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. Tell us and we will put it right.

4. Availability

Some titles can only be shown in certain countries, because that is what the rights allow. If a title is not available where you are, it will not be offered to you.

We try to keep Scotflix running at all times, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may suspend it for maintenance, or withdraw a title when the rights end.

5. Content and intellectual property

The films, series and other content on Scotflix belong to their rights holders. The Scotflix name, logo and the design of this site belong to us. Nothing in these terms gives you any right to use them beyond watching what you have paid for.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use Scotflix to break the law, interfere with the service or other people's use of it, or attempt to gain access to parts of it you are not entitled to. We may suspend or close an account that does.

7. If something goes wrong

We do not exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.

Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses.

8. Changes

We may change these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Changes do not apply retrospectively to a purchase or rental you have already made.

9. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
